"I feel greatly honored to have a ballpark named after me. Especially since I've been thrown out of so many."   - Casey Stengel

The current stadium was built in 1949. On November 12, 1952, the field was named "Stengel Field" to honor baseball immortal and Glendale resident, Casey Stengel. Stengel Field today is home to Glendale Community College and Crescenta Valley High School baseball teams as well as several local youth teams. Stengel Field occassionally hosts Glendale High School and Hoover High School as well. In addition to many athletic related events, Stengel was also the home to community events including Crescenta Valley High School graduation ceremonies prior to being condemned by the city. Stengel has also been host to Hollywood filming, featuring scenes from the movie "Moneyball."
